Preschool Weather Plan

September 22, 2025

Preschool Families,

As we get closer to the months when weather can affect our school schedule, I want to share how this impacts our preschool program. Since we now operate on a four half-day schedule (AM & PM) paired with Wrap Around Care, our approach is a little different than in years past.

The most important thing to know:
👉 All preschool students who are scheduled for that day are still welcome to come to our building, even when there is a weather-related change to the district schedule.

Please note: Our preschool and Wrap Around programs always follow the district’s weather schedule (late starts, early dismissals, cancellations).

We also understand that shortened schedules may not work for every family. In those cases, you may choose to keep your child home and it will not negatively affect their attendance.

Here’s how it looks in the most common situations:

2-Hour Late Start

  • AM Preschool only (no wrap around): Students may come, but class time will only last about 1 hour. Parents may decide to keep their child home if preferred.

  • AM Preschool + PM Wrap Around: Students may come for both AM Preschool (shortened to 1 hour) and then stay for PM Wrap Around.

  • PM Preschool only (with or without AM Wrap Around): No change — PM Preschool and AM Wrap Around run as usual.

2-Hour Early Dismissal (example: dismissal at 1:15)

  • AM Preschool + Wrap Around: Students attend both AM Preschool and Wrap Around, but Wrap Around ends early when school dismisses.

  • PM Preschool only (no wrap around): Students may come, but class time will be about 1 hour. Parents may decide to keep their child home if preferred.

  • PM Preschool + AM Wrap Around: Students attend AM Wrap Around as usual, but PM Preschool will be shortened to 1 hour.

Three-Hour Early Dismissal

  • AM Preschool: No change — students attend as usual.

  • PM Preschool: Canceled. Families may choose to use Wrap Around (if enrolled) up until the early dismissal time.

We know weather days can be stressful, and our goal is to keep things as consistent and flexible as possible for families. Please reach out if you have questions about how a specific schedule change may affect your child.

Thank you for your partnership!
